There is nothing quite like waking up to the serenity of the lake. During the colder months, there’s a mist that sort of hangs over the water and creates an extra “glow” across the lake until the sun is all the way up in the sky. When the trees are changing into a beautiful, spontaneous pop of warm earthy colors, it’s magical. It’s pretty cold in the mornings(we were here late November), but you can’t help it—You have to slip out onto the balcony and just take it all in!
And then there’s the “pets” at the mansion. In the summer, we had a family of geese that would visit faithfully in the morning out by the dock. There’s also a tree that sort of grows out of the water at a gradual angle. The turtles line up on the extended trunk of the tree and sun bathe. It is so cool! Our family has also seen a bald eagle and a fox on the property. Deer are abundant as well. We love discovering these new “pets” every time we visit the lake, and early mornings are the best time to see them in action!
If you stay with us at the Mansion, be sure to let us know about the wildlife you see!
